How come no moon out tonight

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 13-05-04] [Hit: ]
all I see is stars in the sky. Also when I pass near open fields where no trees or houses neither lights are, its like the sun is rising but it isnt even close to sunrise yet. How come? The reason we dont see any light on the moon during a new moon is because the far side of the moon is getting all the light, while the side we see is completely in shadow.......

This normally occurs when there is a new moon

The reason we don't see any light on the moon during a new moon is because the far side of the moon is getting all the light, while the side we see is completely in shadow. When we have a full moon it's because the moon is facing us and the sun, so we see its light reflected fully. The other phases are the stages in between.

We always see the same side of the moon. The moon rotates on its axis while orbiting the earth; it just does one rotation on its axis for each revolution it makes around the earth, so it keeps the same side facing the earth.

There's an old saying that the backside of the moon (the side we never see) is the "dark side of the moon", but that's not really true. The next time you see a "new moon", remember the dark side of the moon is getting all of the light, we just don't see it from earth

The MOON is rising, NOT the Sun. Full moon was on April 25, New moon will be in another week. The Sun and the Moon will rise at approximately the same time. There will be a solar eclipse visible only in the southeast Pacific Ocean , including Australia. There was a partial penumbral lunar eclipse on April 25 when the Moon was full.

The Moon will rise later tonight. Be patient, it's still there. The glow you are seeing is probably a nearby (over the horizon) light source like a parking lot, or a sports stadium, or something bigger like a city.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

there is no such thing as a moon randomly disappearing, it probably hasn't risen yet
do you even know how a moon works?
