so,know, horizontal shift left 4 units, then vertical shift up 2 units.......
So I have this problem. I have this function
Log4(x+4) +2 (the 4 is the base

I get how I get the parent function values
X F(x)
(1/16) -2 and so on
But what I don't get is this part when teacher puts a four column square to fill out labeled as "logarithm function table of values"

(1/16)(-4)(3 1/16)(0)(-2)(+2)
(1/4)(-4)(3 3/4)(1)(-1)(+2)

The parenthesis are for the lines of the columns I don't get the (-4) part could you explain it PLEASE!!

i think you are going to graph.

y = log₄(x+4) + 2
the parent function : y = log₄x
x = 1/16 = 1/4^2 = 4^-2 => y = -2
x =1/4 = 4^-1 => y = -1
x = 1,=> y = 0
x = 4, => y = 1
x = 16, => y = 2
so, we have 5 points for graph
know, horizontal shift left 4 units, then vertical shift up 2 units.
