I am Korean and White. I have wavy black hair and dark brown eyes. My husband is African American, has real curly black hair and dark brown eyes. My 11.5 month old son has ocean blue eyes and curly brown hair. Why did he come out with these features?

Blue eyes are recessive, which means that they don't appear unless the baby receives a blue-eyed gene from both parents. The recessive blue-eyed gene must have been present in both your families, perhaps for many generations, but it never produced blue eyes because there was always a dark-eyed dominate gene present as well. Your baby has blue eyes because he received a recessive blue gene from each of you, and no dark-eyed gene is present to override the recessive blue. There are several different genetic configurations that can result in blue eyes however. In some of them a baby may initially have blue eyes, but they become dark as the child gets older.

Hard to say but I am 100% born here and have dark hair and brown eyes. My fathers side of the family had a lot of blue eyed MEN only. So I carry blue eyed gene. Three kids and no blue eyes yet. Could be recessive. Or the MILK MAN....Just kidding about the milk man. It just happens. Tell him(husband) don't worry....
