Can exploring extra dimensions(if it exists) help in reaching distant place in Universe in a shorter time

Consider that we live in a 2-dimensional world (such as the edge of a ruler). We are sitting on the edge of the ruler at the 6cm mark, and we can see the 10cm mark is 4cm away. If we suddenly open our world up to a third dimension, does the 10cm mark get any closer? The answer is no,......
I think so, because by traveling by the extra dimensions we can reach places in this Universe far away from us in much shorter duration than we could do it with our 3 dimensions.

So, what you are really asking is: can extra dimensions make objects become closer than they are in 3 dimensions? Let's conduct a thought experiment. The answer is no, it doesn't, it is still 4cm away. On the other hand, if our ruler was sitting in a stream of water, and the water is flowing in the direction from the 0cm mark to the 10cm mark, and if we jumped off the ruler at the 6cm mark, then the stream of water will carry us to the 10cm mark, making the 10cm mark appear to be closer than it is. In other words, if the extra dimensions that you are referring to actually have a relative movement to the 3 dimensions in which we live, then yes, we could reach other places in our universe in a shorter time.

So you're asking "If there is a short cut dimension from point A to point B is there a short cut dimension from point A to point B?"

Why yes, there is.

The question is "Are there short cut dimensions from point A to B?"

There has been ligitimate reason to speculate that there are that select gauge fields may interact with, but nothing so far that matter fields may interact with. Gravity might leak out, but not photons or fermions.

Since no such thing has ever been observed, you are discussing day dreams.
