Yes, there are two many questions "in the same question".

"Fusion" is a word that means bring together into one. Two towns close together. Fusion. Result is one big town.

Hydrogen is an atom with only one proton.
(sometimes one proton plus one neutron, and it is then called deuterium)

Helium is an atom with two protons (and one or two neutrons).

Therefore, fusion (joining) must go from small (hydrogen) to bigger (helium).
When it goes the other way (a big atoms splitting into smaller ones) it is called fission. This does not happen inside the Sun.
