We know plants use sunlight as a source of energy. They use a process called photosynthesis to harness the sun's light to produce energy stores for growth and to maintain natural processes in the plant.

A plant that has been exposed to more sunlight than another will be able to photosynthesis more than a plant that hasn't been exposed to as much sunlight. And you have proved this in your experiment, you have shown that the factor that affected the growth of the plant in your semi-light room was its amount of sunlight it was receiving.

(Hopefully you kept all other variables the same such as soil nutriment, water supply etc...)

Hope I've helped a little!
