Independent variable/VARIABLE BEING TESTED (what you change): Temperature
Dependant variable (what changes as a result of independent variable): Plant growth
Controlled Variables (what you keep the same to ensure that the only thing that could change the results is what you are testing):
These are controlled variables as they were kept the same to make the experiment a fair test:
-Amount of water given to plants
-Amount of soil in each plant pot
-Amount of sunlight each plant receives
-size and shape of the pot each plant is in

Imagine you are studying photosynthesis - three things are needed, light CO2 and water. Each of these different factors can change and so is a variable.
If you want to know what effect different quantities of CO2 have on photosynthesis, then you could test this variable by supply different amounts of CO2 to different groups of plants and measure the outcome. This would be your test variable.
However, you need to be sure that the results are only due to changes in CO2, so you have to control the other variables, so the amount of water each plant gets every day and the number of hours of sunlight are kept the same for every plant regardless of which CO2 treatment they are getting.
So a test variable is one which you change to observe the effects, control variables are ones that are kept constant throughout the experiment so that they don't affect the test variable.

A variable being tested is to test the effect a certain chemical has on another thing. a controlled variable is when only one variable is being tested at a time:)
