Motor proteins such as kinesin 13 then depolymerize the microtubule (basically breaking away chunks of it, making it shorter) while a dynein motor protein also attached to the microtubule carries the chromosomes into the daughter cells.Very basically, think of the microtubule as a pole that pushes and pulls the chromosomes around.When it grows (polymerizes) it pushes the chromosomes into the center of the dividing cell.When theyshrink (depolymerizes) it pulls the chromosome with it into the newly dividing cells.......
...chromosomes and other structures within the cell to be moved?

Polymerization (basically the MTs get longer) allows chromsomes to be pushed together at the metaphase plate by the kinectochore microtubules in conjunction with kinesin motor proteins. Motor proteins such as kinesin 13 then depolymerize the microtubule (basically breaking away chunks of it, making it shorter) while a dynein motor protein also attached to the microtubule carries the chromosomes into the daughter cells.

Very basically, think of the microtubule as a pole that pushes and pulls the chromosomes around. When it grows (polymerizes) it pushes the chromosomes into the center of the dividing cell. When they shrink (depolymerizes) it pulls the chromosome with it into the newly dividing cells.
