Derrick say: The reason only a majority of atheists support evolution rather than absolutely 100% of them is that atheism has no doctrine or dogma, no rites and rituals, and no scripture. So there is nothing that all atheists share in common except that they lack a belief in Theistic claims about the existence of deities. Each individual atheist has to decide for themselves what they do an do not believe in the world, which means that there are some who do not understand evolution and thus do not accept it.

Likewise you will find that only a mere majority of Christians (and most modern Theists) support evolution. You are going to be sorely disappointed if a majority is not good enough for you, there are very few things in life which do not have an exception, so you aren't going to find many things that an absolute 100% support.

Rex say: this is unlikely to be true the majority of people support evolution it is only problematic among fundamentalist protestant circles that strangely insist on the world being under 10000 years old

SBR32277 say: First I would say that there are not that many of us atheists compared to the amount of theists so getting to a majority would be easier. Second, evolution is somewhat common sense and we don't have the superstitious bias interfering with that common sense. I suspect more and more theists are supporting evolution. I believe the Catholic Church recently accepted evolution as they attempt to shed some of the superstition that has defied common sense for quite some time now.

Mr. Bodhisattva say: Source please.

Ricardo say: Because we have intelligence. if there was a controversy about gravity we would support that also, especially since evolution is more proven than gravity.
-
Samwise say: Actually, a majority of us Christians--even here in the intellectual backwaters of the United States--understand that the theory of evolution has been proven true.
-
Cato say: Not only atheists but others as well. It's them being deceived into believing evolution is true, when it's not. http://kolbecenter.org/the-traditional-c...
