what would the rate law be if step 2 is SLOW and step 1 is fast?

Since the rate law is determined by the slow step, the rate law would be:

Rate = k[A2][B]

But [A2] is proportional to [A]^2

So, Rate = k[A]^2[B] would be the rate law.
