2 metric ton of this coal.First, find the mass of sulfur.1.2 metric tons (.0255) = .......
A particular coal contains 2.55% sulfur by mass. When the coal is burned, it produces SO_2 emissions which combine with rainwater to produce sulfuric acid. Determine how much sulfuric acid (in metric tons) is produced by the combustion of 1.2 metric ton of this coal.

Please help

2 SO2 + O2 + 2 H2O -------> 2 H2SO4
First, find the mass of sulfur. 1.2 metric tons (.0255) = .0306 metric tons of sulfur

The molecular mass of H2SO4 is 98, 32 of which is sulfur. Therefore the mass of H2SO4 produced will be 98/32 (.0306 metric tons) = .0937 metric tons H2SO4. Actually there are only two significant figures, so .094 metric tons H2SO4.
