the last two volcano eruptions i saw had alot of lightnings over it, EYJAFJALLAJÖKULL and GRIMSVÖTN in iceland :/

All of those particles of volcanic dust colliding and rubbing together creates an incredible amount of static electric charge which is released in the form of lightning.
