when a volcanoe erupts, the intense heat causes extreme changes in the atmosphere. this rapid change coupled with the released volcanic electricity, makes the area over erupted volcanoes a perfect place for a lightning storm.-All of those particles of volcanic dust colliding and rubbing together creates an incredible amount of static electric charge which is released in the form of lightning........
the last two volcano eruptions i saw had alot of lightnings over it, EYJAFJALLAJÖKULL and GRIMSVÖTN in iceland :/
