Need help in Poisson Distribution problem

those of destructive magnitude occur on the average once every year.a) Find the probability that California will experience at least one earthquake of this magnitude during a 6-month period.what i know is that i need to find each k, λ, s.pls find those parameters then i can solve the rest.......
This is the original problem.

California is hit by approximately 500 earthquakes that are large enough to be felt every year. However, those of destructive magnitude occur on the average once every year.

a) Find the probability that California will experience at least one earthquake of this magnitude during a 6-month period.


what i know is that i need to find each k, λ, s.
k=λs

pls find those parameters then i can solve the rest.
