[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-01] [Hit: ]
where m,d and n represent the names.so m=1/6, d=1/12,......
i dont get how to do it, can you explain this to me?

between them three brothers Michael, Daniel, and Nicolas eat 2/3 of a pie.
If Michael eats 1/4 the amount eaten and Daniel eats 1/5 of what Nicolas eats, what fraction of the pie does Nicholas eat?

thanks :)

m+d+n=2/3
where m,d and n represent the names.
m eats (1/4)*2/3=1/6
let d eat x then n eats 5x
so
(1/6)+x+5x=2/3
solving we get x=1/12
so m=1/6, d=1/12, n=5/12 if you add these you will get 2/3
