How is the proper fraction 3 and 184/1000 simply reduced to 3 and 23/124

Add a 3 in front of it,(the reason we got 8, is by finding the Greatest Common Factor of 184 and 1 000)-by the way it reduces to 3 and 23/125. Basically the fraction 184/1000 can be simplified. so keep dividing by 2 and you will end up with it.3 184/1000 = 3 23/125-Not sure but I get 23/125 divided down by 8.......
It actually simplify to 3 23/125 <========not 124

The rule is:
As long we multiply the same number to the denominator and the numerator, the value of the fraction remains the same.

For example

2 / 5 = 4 / 10, because we numtiply both the original numerator and denominator by 2
vice versa, we can divide to make the fraction equivalent.

184 / 1000 = (184 ÷ 8) / (1000 ÷ 8) = 23 / 125

Add a 3 in front of it, to get

3 and 23 / 125

(the reason we got 8, is by finding the Greatest Common Factor of 184 and 1 000)
