A line passes through the point (4, -1) and has a slope of 3 over 2. If you use this slope to generate another point on the line, what are the coordinates of that point?
A: (8, -3)

What is the second step to solve the equation 2b + 5 = -17 ?
A: Multiply by 2
B: Add 5
C: Subtract 5
D: Divide by 2

2) let the equation of the line be (Y- y1)= m (X - x1 ) where x1;y1 are the points through it passes and has a slope m

hence the equation passing through (4;-1) and with slope 3/2 is
Y+1=[3/2][X-4] ======> 3X - 2Y - 14 = 0

now there are two methods to solve this question. Trial and error method since you have options given or Solution by solving two equations simultaneously

let`s try trial and error method.By putting X;Y as 6;2 in the obtained equation we have the answer as B: (6,2)

for the simultaneous solution , you have to form an equation of line passing through two points , say a,b with slope 3/2 and solve this equation with the above obtained equation.Try it yourself.

2b = -17 - 5 -------------- [ 1 ]

2b = -22

b = -22/2 = 11 ----------- [ 2 ]
