so if you replace the $10, with 415, what would you do to replace the $30? $30 = 3* $10, so in miles is 3* 415.

don't even need a calculator: 3* 415 =

3* 4(00) = 12(00) (carry the 00's)

3*15= 15+15 (30) + 15= 45

add the 1200 and the 45 = 1245.
