Dividing Trionomials by a Binomial

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-05-10] [Hit: ]
You only factor the numerator if it has a common factor as the denominator, otherwise just go do the division.......
I am stuck on this problem for my homework assignment:

2x^2 + 7x + 3 / 2x + 3

Do i factor the trinomal first? im not sure. Thanks in advance.

I think it should be
(2x^2 + 7x + 3) / (2x + 3),
not just 2x^2 + 7x + 3 / 2x + 3.

You only factor the numerator if it has a common factor as the denominator, otherwise just go do the division.
(2x^2 + 7x + 3) / (2x + 3)
= (x+2) - 3/(2x + 3)
