3.4.......
v^2-7v= -10

-
v2-7v=-10
v2 - 7v - 10= 0
(v-5) (v-2)= 0
v=5, v=2

-
There are 2 ways. The first by using the rule for the discriminant Δ = b^2 - 4ac. First we turn out equation in the form of ax^2 + bx + c = 0

v^2 - 7v + 10 =0
v = -b (+/-) sqrt(b^2-4ac) / 2a
v = (7 (+/-) 3) / 2
v = 5 or v = 2

The other method is by transforming v^2 - 7v + 10 =0 into (v-2)(v-5) = 0 so that the roots will be 2 and 5

-
1. v^2-7v+10
2. Factor the trinomial to get (v-5) (v-2)
3. v-5= 0
v-2=0
4. v= 5 or 2
