Find the number that should be added to each expression to make it a perfect square

Similarily, you take the half of 7 and square it to get 49/4.......
1. x² - 10x

2. z² + 7z

-
(a+b)^2 = a^2 + 2ab + b^2
so a^2 = x^2 (we can say a = x)
2ab = 10x here we want to divine b since we already said a = x then 10 must be 2b
which means b = 5 and b^2 is 25
The same reasoning on the second tells us that a = z and 2b is 7
so b must be 3.5 and 3.5^2 = 12.25

-
1. Take the half of 10 and square it to get 25.

2. Similarily, you take the half of 7 and square it to get 49/4.
