for letter B.y=(x^2-40)/3 -------eq.y=( -x - 6)/2 -------eq.x=4.87 ; x= -6.37 then subst.......
A. y=2x+2
y=x^2+4x-5


B. 3y=x^2-40
x+2y= -6

just equate the y's, since y=y
y=2x+2 ----- 1
y=x^2 + 4x -5 -------- 2

eq. 1= eq. 2
2x+2=x^2+4x-5
0=x^2 + 2x - 7 i transposed the terms on the left side to the right side
then solve it by using the quadratic equation...
x=1.83 or x= -3.83
then subst. this values to eq.1 or 2 to get the y value...


for letter B. isolate the y's first then equate them again
3y=x^2-40
y=(x^2-40)/3 ------- eq. 1

x+2y=-6
y=( -x - 6)/2 ------- eq. 2

then equate them again

(x^2-40)/3=(-x - 6)/2
2x^2-80=-3x - 18
2x^2 + 3x - 62 = 0

x=4.87 ; x= -6.37 then subst. it aqain to eq 1 or 2 to get the y coordinate... :)

you have to put both of the equations equal to each other.
a) 2x+2=x^2=4x-5 and work the equation all the way down...remember to have the X all in in one side in order to find the answer.

do the same on problem B.
