I'm stuck on this math question can someone help me work it out (pre algebra)

At the school store, 6 pencils sell for $0.99. At this rate, what is the cost of 16 pencils?

A. $2.64
B. $3.79
C. $2.98
D. $1.65

Algebra:
6p = 0.99
divide both sides by six and you find the value of just 'p' which is 0.165
p/6 = 0.99/6
= 0.165
Therefore
16p = 0.165 x 16
therefore 16 pencils costs $2.64
