I have a math test today and I have been having issues with these kind of problems.
there are powers here so if it has powers next to it im going to put to the ___ power because i have no idea how to make it a tiny number

and number/number means a fraction

1. 4(3x to the 2nd power + 2x) = ?

2. The football coach shuddered when he realized the ratio of dextrous to inept was 3 to 7. If 140 players tried to make the team, how many were dextrous?

3. If 3x + 5 = 22 then what is the vlue of 2x + 1?

4. simplify by adding like terms: 3x + 5 + 3y + 2xy + 6x + 5xy

5. solve: 2x - 6 = 3x - 4

6. 2 to the 3rd power - 2(1 - 2 to the 2nd power)(3 - 2 to the 2nd power)/6(2 x 3 - 2)

here are the answers to them:

#1: 12x to the 2nd power + 8x

#2: 42

#3: 2a to the 2nd power b + 2ab

#4: 7xy + 9x + 3y + 5

#5: -1

#6: 37/3

1. 4(3x^2 + 2x) = 4*3x^2 + 4*2x = 12x^2 + 8x.
2. d:i = 3:7; total = 3+7 = 10; total people = 140; thus, dextrous people = (3/10) * 140 = 3*14 = 42 people.
3. If 3x +5 = 22, 3x = 22-5,
3x = 17, x = 17/3.
=> 2x + 1 = 2(17/3) + 1 = (34/3) + 1
collect like terms;
(34 + 3)/3 = 37/3.
