How to input finding the log of 0.05 on my calculator

But I cant figure out the the first step?-But it is right.Only, log(0.05)=-1.30 if the log is decade logarithm,......
I have a TI-30XA and I input log 0.05 = -1.30. But I just don't think that is correct. Am I doing this right?

Ultimately I want to do this calculation: log (6.0225^23) - log (0.05) / log (6.0225^23) and multiply that answer by 100 to get a percentage. But I can't figure out the the first step?

But it is right.
Logarithm should give the negative result on inputs lower than 1 (and larger than 0 of course)
Only, log(0.05)=-1.30 if the log is decade logarithm, not natural.

Though, the result is not a rational number.
This is the actual result of log(0.05): -1.3010299956639811952137388947245
It's similar to yours though I don't know why is that you have so low precision of only 2 decimal places...

To take the the logarithm of a number, say 100, just press [1] [0] [0] [LOG]. This should give you the result. As it turns out, taking the logarithm of a number between 0 and 1 results in a negative answer, so you're probably doing it right. By the way, log(0.05) = -1.30103...

It does not matter which calculator you have. I assumed you meant base 10 Logarithm. Also note Log(k) < 0 if k < 1, since Log(1) = 0

Log(0.05) = -1.3010...

Hint log (6.0225^23) = 23 log (6.0225)

-
its the correct answer unless you meant other base like base e => ln
