258 N BUT i have no idea how to get that answer. pls help and give steps by steps-Volume of ball = 4/3(pi r^3) = 28.735cc. So its mass is (28.735 x 0.084) = 2.......
A ping pong ball has an average density of 0.0840 g/cm^3 and a diameter of 3.80 cm. What force would be required to keep the ball completely submerged under water? I know the answer is 0.258 N BUT i have no idea how to get that answer. pls help and give steps by steps

Volume of ball = 4/3(pi r^3) = 28.735cc. So its mass is (28.735 x 0.084) = 2.41374g.
Fully submerged, it will displace a volume of 28.735cc. of water, which has a mass of 28.735g. (density of water is 1g/cc.).
Subtract the ball's mass from the water's mass, = 26.32126g.
26.32g = 0.02632kg.
(0.02632 x 9.8) = force of 0.258N. required.
