and Radio waves? Particles, photons, heat, or anything else?-Hi there.......
Gamma rays, X rays, and UV rays are photons. Beta rays and Alpha rays are particles.

What are Infrared rays, Microwaves, and Radio waves? Particles, photons, heat, or anything else?

Hi there.

Your diagram has 2 very serious mistakes:
- α and β do NOT belong on the diagram;
- photons are NOT l limited to the left side.

The basic diagram is of the electromagnetic spectrum, showing the different types of electromagnetic (EM) radiation. EM radiation is basically a type of wave; the longest wavelength ones are called radio waves, and the shortest wavelength ones are called gamma rays - see your diagram.

α and β are NOT electromagnetic waves, they are a type particle given-off by radioactive materials.

An α particle is the same thing as the nucleus of a helium atom (2 neutrons + 2protons).
A β particle is basically just an electron.
Neither of them are electromagnetic waves.

Photon are 'packets' of EM radiation. EM radiation can sometimes behave as a steady stream of energy (wave) but sometimes it behaves like a stream of billions of separate packets of energy called photons. The photon behaviour is easier to see for the shorter wavelength waves, which might explain your diagram.

You will need to do some background reading on radioactivity and quantum, mechanics to understand these more.

they are all electromagnetic rays.
they are rays having elctrical and magnetic lines of force perpendicular to each other.
The EMW in order from highest energy to lowest are listed below
1. Gamma rays
2. X-rays
3. Ultraviolet rays
4. Visible light rays
5. Infrared rays
6. Microwaves
8. Radio waves (FM)
9. Radio waves (AM)
10. Long radio waves

Photons. They are all part of the electromagnetic spectrum

That diagram is wrong. Alpha and beta are PARTICLES and not electromagnetic waves.
