Around what time/month are baby bunnies born in the wild

Help me please. Lol Thank you!-The mating and young rearing season of rabbits is highly variable and generally dependent upon environmental conditions (that relate to resource availability). Typically, rabbits will mate between Feb and Oct. They have a gestation of 28 days and produce up to 7 litters of 1-12 young PER YEAR (average 3 litters of 5 young per year).......
My cat Oliver is a hunter and every summer he always brings home a baby bunny or two. I want to try and prevent this by not letting him outside for a while, but I don't want to keep him in the house any longer than I should because I know he will go crazy.. but I want to protect the the cute little bunnies. Help me please. Lol Thank you!

The mating and young rearing season of rabbits is highly variable and generally dependent upon environmental conditions (that relate to resource availability). Typically, rabbits will mate between Feb and Oct. They have a gestation of 28 days and produce up to 7 litters of 1-12 young PER YEAR (average 3 litters of 5 young per year). The reproductive strategy of rabbits is to produce many offspring annually, wean them quickly and then repeat the process. So a female rabbit could produce anywhere between 7-84 young per year (however, 1-30 is more realistic because of resource constraints). I would not be worried about your cat decimating a rabbit population, or even an individual rabbit's reproductive success (unless she is bringing home 10's of rabbits). Once the young are weaned, they go off on their own and the female will mate again. The fact that your cat is preying on the female's young is not necessarily a bad thing for the female. Generally, only 40% of rabbit young survive past weaning (mortality caused by predation, disease, or abandonment). Of those 40%, only 15% make it to sexual maturity. Because a female is practically giving birth year round, it would tough to pinpoint a time in which to keep your cat indoors. Plus, it is your cat's innate ability to go out and catch rabbits, mice, birds ect. I'd just monitor the amount of young she is catching. And I'd more more concerned if she were bringing back adults (especially females).

He is a domestic species and has no place in the local ecosystem. If he is not killing "cute little bunnies" I guarantee you he is killing something else that has a rightful place in this world.

Please be a responsible pet owner and keep your cat indoors. If he goes crazy indoors, address the problem indoors. Do not ask other animals to die so that your cat may go where he does not rightfully belong.

It depends on where you are. In the US and surrounding areas, the breeding season lasts from February to October. In Australia, it's July to January.

Gestation lasts about a month, so babies can be expected from month 2 of breeding season to a month after the season ends.
