Im 17 and interested in becoming a vet. I have talked to the university in New Zealand and they have said if I continue getting the grades I am now next year I will have a good chance of becoming a vet. Its a 5 year course and I want to specialize in wild animals. However I want to maybe go to africa and work there as a vet because I love the animals over there and the environment. Does anyone know if this is possible as the animals over there are a lot different to new Zealand wild animals, or when you become a vet can you work on all animals, or would I need to take an extra course on African animals?

I'm going to guess that you would need to take an extra course on African animals. However you could probably take it in New Zealand or Australia.
Also as an added bonus, you could join something like the Peace Corps or a similar humanitarian aid and volunteer group as a veterinarian and you can teach local doctors and vets how run veterinary clinics and do procedures and what not.
I would strongly recommend a volunteer type effort such as the one I just described as it will make you look SO MUCH BETTER to future employers. Plus you get some experience in the region.
