Why aren't lions motivated to eat fruits and vegetables

Don't they like the taste? What makes them want to only eat meat? Do they eat fruits and veggies when they're starving?

That is the way they have evolved. They also may find fruits and vegetables not as "flavorful" or palatable as meat. Felines in general are for the most part considered strict carnivores, ie meat will make up almost 100% of their diet. Their stomachs are short and can also not fully digest complex carbohydrates and fibers in fruits so if they were forced to eat them, they would probably get a stomach ache. That said however there are always exceptions and some do eat small amounts of fruits and vegetables. My cat for example will eat small amounts of avocado :)

Because they are carnivores. Lions are rather large creatures who depend on high levels of caloric intake. By having a diet of greens they would be unable to sustain themselves (like sheep). This is why they eat meat.

Because they have an 11 ammino acid requirement which is Taurine. Without consuming Taurine they will starve to death. Taurine is found in the stomach of grazing animals.

They are just made that way, They would turn to cannibalism before they go to fruits and veggies
