How do you explain this that I saw? (I'm a skeptic but this has made me question everything)?
Me and my gf were driving to work the other night, it was around 8pm and was pretty dark outside, but there were streetlights on so the road was well lit. Well I was looking out the front window, as you do, and I noticed one particular area seemed very dark compared to the rest of the street, but I didn't...

Mr. P say: Possible that you have the right explanation to what you saw, but it is also possible that you were mistaken. Only you can decide.

I have seen bright flashes that are caused by headlight reflection in puddles but seems different to what you saw. I have also seen a group of men made of mist carrying long poles, wearing leather tunics and wearing long sleeved white shirts walking along a road when I drove through them. Later research proved it was a route taken by Robert the Bruces men in 1308 before a battle.
Therefore I advise you research the area you saw it, look at old maps of the area and look for any reason for it being there.

Jeffrey K say: It was probably just a shadow. The way the streetlights and moon and other lights were arranged likely were all blocked out cresting a very dark shadow area that you passed thru.
-
Robert De Angelis-Italy-United States say: You can not give detailed explanations, since you have only seen a'shadow? &' probable that'shadow which thou sawest was one spirit, usually can manifest itself in many ways. But it is absolutely false that person who said to be a medium? More than Medium, is a Crapa dishonest?

This is not to say that the *real* medium does not exist, indeed, are real, but we must distinguish them from those liars!

Dr W say: lame story. Not buying it.
-
Raro Fidelis say: If someone claims to be a medium you should know straight up that they are deluded or a liar since no one has ever proved that they can speak to the dead so you can disregard any black energy nonsense.

Sometimes you can never work out what you saw, that just makes it unexplained, not paranormal..

Jon say: A large black plastic bag being blown about by the wind?

There is no such thing as negative energy: it is impossible to exert less than no effort.
-
Dr. NG say: Baring more information, we'll have to go with Occam's Razor and chalk it up to the most likely cause, overactive imaginations.
-
wilds_of_virginia say: Interesting. It obviously was something real, not a hallucination, because your gf saw it, too. Check your headlights. If one of them is not working, this dark mass might have been something passing in front of the one working headlight. Past that, I'm at a loss. Thick smoke perhaps?

say: Never mix weed and whiskey
-
Gary K say: There's a few factors at play here - it's night, you're behind a windscreen, you're moving, there's various light sources coming from different directions. I'd put it down to an optical illusion or shadow effect. There's certainly no need to invoke the supernatural.

English Guy say: If you were just making up a story, this one is very bland and without imagination. This is what makes it very believable. You are neither the first and certainly not the last to report something like this. It's just a shame that there are so many dumdums in the world who think, if it is not picked up by human senses, it does not exist. We see in the most minute part of the spectrum and we hear in the most minute range of sound. It is a shame that we can't get the monkeys to understand this. God only knows what you saw but going on the description, I would write it down in case you forget. Something may turn up in time that corresponds to your own sighting. An interesting post.
EDIT! NG puts it down to the imagination. You both imagined exactly the same thing at exactly the same time. I wonder how many times he and his wife watched tv together when there was no tv present. Denialists simply have no idea of probability and pick the furthest out excuses rather than admit the possibility of paranormal. Reminds me of North Koreans hiding under the house playing with anti-gravity devices. The little beggars.
