The sun radiates energy. Does the earth similarly radiate energy

google.com/books?2) yes, we radiate in the infrared.........
If so, why can’t we see the radiant energy from the earth?
1. Yes, the earth radiates energy, but only in
the sense that the energy is reflected sunlight,
which we can’t see from the earth’s surface.
2. Yes, the earth radiates energy, but since
the peak frequency f is directly proportional
to the absolute temperature of the radiator,
the wavelength of the radiation is far too long
for us to see.
3. Yes, the earth radiates energy, but since
the peak frequency f is directly proportional
to the temperature of the radiator in degrees
Kelvin, the frequency of the radiation from
the earth is in the ultraviolet range (so that
we don’t see it).
4. No, the earth does not similarly radiate
energy

yes

1) I dont know about you but I see reflected sunlight everywhere I look except up in the sky

2) yes, we radiate in the infrared... heat, not photons

3) Yes we radiate in the UV spectrum as well, though not as much since the atmosphere "absorbs" a lot of it.... but a good bit is reflected

4) define "similarly"... no, our "surface" is not undergoing nuclear fusion, producing photons, but yes, we do radiate energy into space

yes the Earth must radiate energy in the infrared and heat ranges. This heat is absorbed by the land and water from the sun and is re-radiated. Heat is also gathered by the water from the depths where tectonic activity is in constant operation,.
The Earth also radiates electromagnetic (Hertzian wave) energy from the thousands of lightning storms which are in process at any given moment.

-
Yes, in a way. The Sun shines on the Earth and some of that is reflected away.

Also, some of Earths material breaks down constantly causing heat. This is the source of Earth's internal heat and is what drives plate tectonics. Some of this heat is radiated away from the Earth.

The Earth and the other seven planets all radiate more energy than they receive from the Sun.

the earth is not in a perpectual nuclear reaction like the sun. so it does not radiate energy
