I saw this movie where the space ship is all lit up, even know they're in the middle of no where with no stars close by. The stars are just little specs in the distance. Is there enough light from the stars that are little specs? Or would the spase ship be dark? I dont know the name of the movie that brought this question to my mind, and i dont care what movie it is. I'm just curious of what it would be.

This ranks with movies where you hear whooshing sounds as meteors pass the spaceship (no sound transmits in a vacuum), or where asteroid belts are so packed you are constantly dodging (asteroids tend to be a couple hundred thousand miles from one another in the densest part of the Belt). No, in deep space stars won't provide enough light to see a spaceship, and running lights like on an airplane seem rather useless

If the space ship was lit up by some external source and not by the lights of the ship itself, then that light needs to be bright enough or plenty enough to light it up. If you are seeing scattered tiny specks of light from distant stars in the background, then they are not going to be enough to light up the ship. But more importantly, they are not going to be the source of light that shines on the front of the ship you are seeing. Rather, they are going to be lighting the backside of the ship you do not see. So the concern is if there are only tiny specks of light shining on it from distant stars all around it, or if maybe you aren't seeing a stronger light source (like a sun) which is out of frame in front of it.

If it is indeed interstellar space then there would not be a enough light from stars to illuminate the space ship. However, there could be external lights outside the ship that shine back on the ship kind of like a house at night with external recessed lighting.

The ship would be dark as there would not be enough light to reflect. No this is in deep space. Hollywood needs the ships to be seen by the audience so they light it up with reflected light
