Eating more meat causes your blood to have a metallic taste. This is because you increase your iron levels. People with non-metallic [sweet] tasting blood are most likely vegetarian/vegan, anemic, or a moderate consumer of meats.

As far as blood from different sources goes, the blood that comes from cuts in your mouth tend to be sour/sting-like and salty, rather than the warm/sweet and salty blood from cuts. Why this is, I have no idea.

Overall, blood is salty.

With all due respect, blood is a very highly regulated medium subject to rather strict feedback correction parameters. My guess is that if your blood composition had changed so much you could taste the difference, you would be experiencing prominent physiological indicators of this change. When you smell a smell for too long, you stop smelling it- the same applies to taste. Maybe the blood had just been around your taste buds for so long you stopped tasting it as strongly as the other time.

I wouldn't dwell on it.
