if evolution is true, then why aren't there more intelligent species other than humans?
If you look at us, our intelligence has been a huge evolutionary benefit, assuming that evolution is true, as it has caused us to be able to populate in a huge amount and live without significant risk of death in our daily life, so surely our intelligence is a really good evolutionary trait. So if intelligence is...

answers:
Caleb say: Humans needed to evolve to be smarter because without any tools or tactics it was nearly impossible to hunt or defend themselves from being hunted. In fact humans went from being one of the worst species in the world to one of the best all thanks to our good old pal evolution
-
Sosig say: Evolution itself has already been proven to exist. The fact that humans evolved from single celled organisms however is still a theory. Who says there arent smarter creatures than humans? the universe is a pretty big place
-
Silver say: Some animal species may not need very much intelligence and the ones that would benefit from higher intelligence may have simply not evolved yet.
-
Bulldog redux say: And why aren't there more animals with long tusks? And why aren't there more animals with huge ears? And why aren't there more animals with a super-sensitive, tactile nose? And why aren't there more birds that dive at speeds up to 200 mph? And why . . . and why . . .and why?
-
Cowboy say: We filled the niche - there's no more room!
-
Paul say: There are other intelligent species, but obviously there has to be one most intelligent species, and our brain structure is the principle evolutionary feature that has allowed us to dominate.
-
Dr. D say: About 60,000 years ago there were Homo sapiens, Neanderthals and Denisovans. So at times there were other intelligent species. The Homo sapiens just competed better.
-
Yellow Canary say: Oh yes! Why don't monkeys talk?
-
M Johnson say: Bags of water made AI, pretty impressive.
-
The Holy Shroud of Turin say: God guided the process of evolution?
-
Phillip say: Hang around a few tens of thousands of years and you will see species evolve into something better. Sorry, but it didn't appear to happen for you.
-
Kracko9 say: Crvrrvtbbttbvrcexwxw
-
John say: Why are you talking about us behind our back? You monkee. Get a lift quit stealing and quit talking about us behind our backs.
-
dinigish say: My dog is smarter then you
-
Miriam say: It would seem that we're special.
-
Otto say: There was no evolution !It is not a Bible teaching!
-
Joe say: You think humans are intelligent ????
-
Kherova say: Evolution doesn't work like "oh, that would be nice to have, let's evolve to get that thing." Evolution works because a species already has something, and that something gets selected for by breeding more likely with other members who also have that thing. Giraffes didn't get long necks because long necks are cool. They got them because when they had normal length necks, the ones with just slightly longer ones stood a bit better chance at surviving than the others, so in time, their genes made up more of the pool, and they had babies with longer necks.
As for why we got our brains, but others didn't, it is not quite as simple. A lot of factors came together to make that happen. There are animals with as big of brains as us, some that may be as smart, but they don't have the communal structure we do. Society has made us smarter, because those who could work together, stood a better chance of surviving, and their genes lived on. Large brains are taxing. They consume a lot of resources, make pregnancy more dangerous (big heads/long gestation), so they are a risky adaptation. The fact that we could communicate, we desired social connection, we had the propensity already towards larger brains, and maybe some luck, all came together in a unique way to make us survive and thrive.
-
Virgil say: That is a marvelous point never thought of that? Why don't some animals talk, use computers and even do complex problems?
-
Donut Tim say: There were several more things that favored our success including the ability to speak, opposing thumbs and sensitive digit manipulation.
Intelligence would likely not survive without those other traits.
-
geezer say: Another species of animal as intelligent (or more intelligent) as us would be a disaster.
Think of the conflicts that it would cause .. fighting to be the dominant species !!
-
Billandhiscats say: There probably are. The Human race is just too self arrogant to recognise the fact.
-
jordan say: probably because we evolved the most? i dont know. thats a guess
-
Doubting Like Thomas say: One must first have an agreed-upon definition of "intelligence".

Who worries more about what to wear?
YOU or a bottle-nosed dolphin?

Who pays more taxes?

Who lives in fear that an invisible SOMETHING will punish it ETERNALLY for having consensual sex?

A Nonny Mouse say: "If"??

LMFAO!!!
-
Ricardo say: Read the questions and answers on this forum, even many humans do not fit that category.
-
bobby say: Why indeed?Evolution is a joke.
-
*&* say: Evolution is true and the fact that you and your fellow creatard nitwits can't understand what evolution is proves that humans in general really aren't that intelligent.

Eye roll
-
Man Abrier say: I guess it's the fallacy of logical regression, except reversed, towards the future. Evolution says mutations happen randomly, and the environment changes randomly, and so in between all of this, some just so happen to live and others die out by pure chance of their random mutations making them more suited to the randomly changing environment. A bunch of nonsense if you ask me. I'm not that inclined on human evolution, as I've studied plants a lot more, but even in that field there are a whole lot of impossibilities, mostly mechanical.
-
say: And why aren't there more intelligent species than that? There HAS to be a most intelligent species, and we happen to be it.
-
Chris say: That makes sense
-
busterwasmycat say: Partly because we humans are too egocentric to accept that there are loads of other lifeforms of similar intelligence, and we simply only emphasize the intelligence combined with tactile capabilities in our effort to declare ourselves superior.

The question is a falsehood on its surface. I don't know that it is more intelligent to destroy our living space because we can. That is definitely what we do, though.

We are, of course, the most intelligent things around because we define intelligence as ourselves.
-
Adullah M say: Evolutionists find no way to explain how instinct evolve to be intellect in human kind , if it were true that man evolve from apes ,while all animals of the world still posses only instinct and being subjected to human being. If they only accept the fact that GOD creates mankind and place them on this earth as being HIS vicegerent and subjugate all kinds of HIS creations under our command, then no need for the evolutionists to be stubborn any further.
-
Slave2Christ say: Frankly all non-human animals are more intelligent than human animals
-
say: Because it was a Creator God who created all species and He did not make them so that they could evolve into a different creature. He did, however, give us the ability to adapt and improve ourselves and did not create each individual with a species to be identical - which is why we don't all have the same shape nose, the same eye colour, the same texture of hair etc. He placed us in places around the world where our skin type would be correct for the climate where he placed us. That is why some people from hot countries find it hard to cope in a colder country and why people with more body fat were placed in cold countries where their bodily make up would survive well but where other, leaner people would not etc.

DonnieB say: I want to evolve into having 2 opposable thumbs on each hand.

Doc say: What makes you think there isn't?
As Douglas Adams pointed out , humans think they're more intelligent then Dolphins , because they invented cities, cars, guns and war. While Dolphins spend al their time swimming, eating fish, and having fun. The Dolphins consider themselves more intelligent for the exact same reasons.
-
Space Wasp say: We don't know for a fact that there isn't a species on Earth that is more intelligent than humans.

Humans have benefited from more than just intelligence, we also have the advantage of hands, which have enabled us to make things and develop writing, and the capability for complex spoken language.
-
Jea say: There are. and there were. H. Sapiens were the most violent so they are all that remain of the human species. Not necessarily smarter, but meaner for sure.
Still, many animals are very intelligent. I'd bet my horse back in the day was smarter than you are right now.
-
sparrow say: There's no rule that says there has to be a species more intelligent than us. And if one were found, then you will ask why isn't there a species to top that one? None of this disproves evolution, by the way.
I think God set it all in motion.
-
kbplus2001 say: If one looks at the entire process of evolution from single celled organisations to humans, the level of intelligence has gradually but definitely increased at each level. Once reaching the human stage, the development of intelligence obviously stops because after that stage nature has no further more "developed species" to offer. As of now (since 2 million years) mother nature seems to have taken a brilliant pause when it comes to intelligence development. So there are no species more developed or even as equally developed as the humans.
However, that does not mean that a human being is all what mother nature had to offer to this planet. History is a witness that after such huge pauses mother nature suddenly becomes active and decides to change things. Who knows this time around in this process it may decide to create a species far superior to humans in terms of intelligence and mental capabilities. It's all unpredictable and a highly speculative subject.

Fireball say: ITS NOT TRUE BUT THERE IS A MORE INTELLIGENT BEING...HIS NAME IS YAHWEH...HE IS OUR MAKER..
-
frombrum say: why would there need to be if it is or isn't true
you have proved nothing
-
say: Evolution does not predict that any and every helpful trait imaginable will develop.
-
Vincent G say: Because evolution is about survival of the species, and intelligence is not the only way of achieving this.

Insects lay thousands of eggs. Only two need to reach adulthood.
-
jpopelish say: How do you know there aren't
more intelligent species than humans?

John Popelish
-
poldi2 say: Because if more than one intelligent species exists that competed for resources, one of the species would have destroyed the other. Since we are here, we destroyed the competition.
-
WwwdotBibleSelectordotcom say: We're not sure that there aren't (e.g. dolphins)
and realize that there were multiple species of humans at one time
but
homo sapiens outperformed them all, eventually into extinction.
-
Desiree say: There were, but modern humans most likely killed them off out of fear and ignorance.
