I need help with this problem. how to get the right significant figures for this equation: (87.0-23.912)/0.005.

Youll come up with the answer of 12620; however, this has too many sig figs so you must round down to 10,000 to make it = one sig fig. Also Because when you divide or multiply you have to go off that amount number of signficiant figures which 0.005 has 1 sig figs.
Your second answer should be 53,100 I think...Because 2.86 has 3 sig figs so your answer must have 3 sig figs as well.
