A mole of O2 molecules contains how many atoms

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 12-07-09] [Hit: ]
Thanks so much for your help!-1 mol = 6.023 X 10^23 molecules (or atoms if the substance is monoatomic or ions if the substance is ionic) This the Avogadros number and is the same for all substances.Here 1 mol O2 = 6.........
I need to report my answer in 4 significant figures. Also, for numbers in scientific notation, it can be written as (for example); for 1000, it can be as 10^3 or as 1.000E3

Thanks so much for your help!

1 mol = 6.023 X 10^23 molecules (or atoms if the substance is monoatomic or ions if the substance is ionic) This the Avogadro's number and is the same for all substances.

Here 1 mol O2 = 6.023 X 10^23 molecules of O2
......................= 2 X 6.023 X 10^23 atoms of oxygen = 12.046 X 10^23 atoms of oxygen (ANSWER)

A mole is 6.022x10^23 particles, or in the case of oxygen molecules, there are 6.022x10^23 molecules of O2, which is twice as many atoms, or 1.2044x10^24 atoms of oxygen, 1.204x10^24 oxygen atoms to four significant digits.
