What types of math should I work on to be prepared for chem

Thanks-College chemistry, for the most part, requires little more than a solid high school math background. Most of what you use is simple algebra. Some topics like pH use logarithms. Physical chemistry MIGHT use some very basic calculus (simple integrations and derivatives).......
I had like a 100 in advanced chemistry in my high school. The math in that class was easy! But math is not my strong point. I really like chemistry and plan to major in which is why I am asking what types of math should I really work on before starting those classes. Classes like General, Organic, Physical, and what ever classes that are common for majors to take. And Physics would be great too. Thanks

You should get into Calculus so you are prepared for physical chemistry. Here you will have to derive and take integrals. Not only that but through advancing your math skills it will make it loads easier to understand where we get all the equations we know have use already as well as learn to derive them yourself. Calculus will also be used in calc based physics which I was required to take for my Chemistry degree. Organic doesn't really utilize math a lot. I think you will be fine throughout general chemistry, math won't really become a valuable tool until your upper level courses. As you get into the upper level courses the different subjects start merging and pulling form each other...for instance Biochem (biology and chemistry) and pchem (calculus physics and chemistry) and calc based physics (calc and physics ofc)

Well that's all I have so good luck in your choices.

general: ALGEBRA, Logs
Organic - the logic is akin to old style geometry
Physical Calculus - preferiallby thru differential eqns

physics (a requirement for chem major) will require calculus
and it builds rapidly - but TRIG is essential to physics

at least the p-chem course at Cal used calc up the ying yang
