0 sec = 1.41 = (32/x)^0.5:: 1.x = 16 g/mol , possibly the gas is CH4, methane.......
In an experiment, 100 cm3 of a gas diffused out of a gas syringe in 14.1 s. The same volume of oxygen took 10 s. Calculate the relative formula mass of the unknown gas. Suggest an identity for the gas.

R1/R2 = (M2/M1)^0.5
14.1 sec/10.0 sec = 1.41 = (32/x)^0.5:: 1.99 = 32 / x
x = 16 g/mol , possibly the gas is CH4, methane.
