How do I calculate the acceleration of the cart with a frictional resistance of magnitude 2.0 N is acting

F/m = a = 2.0/4.0 = 0.F/m = a = 2.0/2.2.......
There are two carts let's call them M1 and M2. M1 is 4.0 kg, and M2 is 2.0 kg.

-
For M1:

F= m*a

F/m = a = 2.0/4.0 = 0.5 s^(-2)

For M2:

F = m*s

F/m = a = 2.0/2.0 = 1 s^(-2)

-
F=ma

2.0=(4+2)a

2.0/6=a

a=1/3m/s^2.
