......
the work and answer? my friend and i have an answer but we aren't sure if its right, its part of our homework

-
1/2 + 1/7n = 1
=> 1/7n = 1 - 1/2
=> 1/7n = 1/2
=> n = (1/2)/(1/7)
=> n = 1/2 x 7
Therefore n = 7/2

-
now, if that n is a part of the denominator:

1/2 + 1/7n = 1 multiply both sides by 14n
7n + 2 = 14n
2 = 7n
2/7 = n

if the n is being multiplied to the 1/7:

1/2 + n/7 = 1 multiply both sides by 14
7 + 2n = 14
2n = 7
n = 3.5

-
1/7n = 1/2
multiply both sides by 7 to get n alone
n = 7/2
