?= 203/6 = 33.......
The velocity function is v(t) =t2−5t +6 for
a particle moving along a line. Find the displacement
(net distance covered) of the particle during the time
interval [-2,5].
displacement =???

-
v(t) =t2−5t +6
integrating gives
[t^3/3 - 5t^2/2 +6t] from -2 to 5
[125/3 - 125/2 + 30] - [-8/3 -10 -12]
=[250/6 - 375/6 + 30] - [-16/6 -22]
= -125/6 +30 +16/6 + 22
= -109/6 + 52
= 203/6 = 33.83
