How to solve 3-2i/-4-i

[From: ] [author: ] [Date: 11-11-29] [Hit: ]
This is what I did..3 - 2i ...-4 - i .......
I already did this, but I just want to check my answer.

I got -10 + 11i as an answer.
This is what I did..

3 - 2i ... -4 + i
-------- x --------
-4 - i ... -4 + i

(3 - 2i)(-4 + i)

F.O.I.L.
3 x -4 = -12
3 x i = 3i
-2i x -4 = 8i
-2i x i = -2i^2 = 2

-12 + 3i + 8i + 2

-10 + 11i

Did I do it correctly?? If not, how do I do it?

-
Correct except you forgot the denominator 17

-10/17 + 11i/17

-
-4 + i
---------
-4 + i

is just one, you dont need to foild, the answer is just
3 - 2i
--------
-4 - i
