5.) Mrs.Crawford spent 1/4 of her salary on her children`s education and 2/3 of the remainder on food every month. The rest of her money was saved and spent on clothing in the ratio 2:3. She spent $265 more on her children`s education than on clothing. If she earned and spent the same amount every month,how much would she spend on her children`s education in half a year?

since 1/4 of the money is for the children's education, it only means that 3/4 of the money spend in food , savings and clothing.
2/3 of of 3/4 is 1/2, therefore half of her salary is for food.

5300 = 2y
$ 2650 = y

2650(1/4) = $ 662.50 alloted for children's education

therefore she spends $ 3975 on children's education for half year.
