..But Im sure they have primal instincts like I need food- let me do something that will make me less hungry. Or Theres a bigger animal- I should hide-they react only,BUT if you have ever watched a Praying Mantis,you get the impression they are looking right back at you,......
No. They simply react to stimuli. Even a frog is incapable of reason, and its brain is several orders of magnitude more complex than that of an insect.

Not reason in the way a human is. Love, Sadness, etc....

But I'm sure they have "primal instincts" like "I need food- let me do something that will make me less hungry". Or "There's a bigger animal- I should hide"

they react only,BUT if you have ever watched a Praying Mantis,you get the impression they are looking right back at you,and planning...its kinda creepy...if there is a thinking insect it is the Mantids...

yes, insects have brains with decision making capabilities as do many life forms, but not politicians or women unfortunately,
