Combine like terms to simplify:

=-7+2x^2+8x-2 when you distribute
=2x^2+8x-9 combine like terms

multiply out the 2(x^2+4x-1) to get 2x^2+8x-2
add -7 to that to get -2x^2+8x-9, which is the answer

-7+2(x^2+4x-1)

-7 + 2x^2 + 8x - 2

-9 +2x^2 + 8x
