What did the television cost in total?-Multiply 769 by .05 to get the amount of tax and add it to the original cost.769*.05=38.38.......
How would you solve this problem ? and what is the answer? PLEASE AND THANKYOU.

Frank paid 5% sales tax on his television, which cost $769 before taxes. What did the television cost in total?

-
Multiply 769 by .05 to get the amount of tax and add it to the original cost.
769*.05=38.45
38.45+769=807.45

-
If Frank paid $769 and sales tax is 5% then you would take 5% of 769 then take that answer and add it to 769.
So the equation would be the amount plus (.05 times the amount)
769+(769 * .05)

-
$769 x 0.05 = $38.45

$769 + 38.45 = $807.45 total
