The center is at (3, -2) and the radius is 5.......
i need help with this one, find the center (h, k) and the radius

2x^2 +2 y^2 - 12x + 8y-24 = 0

i started working on it but got confused....heres where i started and finished. i would appreciate if u guys answered it step by step so i can understand this material

2x^2 +2 y^2 - 12x + 8y-24 = 0
2x^2 - 12x + __+2y^2 + 8y +__ = 24

...i stopped right there unsure. What would in the blanks and how would u get the numbers? do u always pick any numbers for x & y or the same number????

by the way....how

thats funny

2x^2 + 2y^2 - 12x + 8y - 24 = 0

First divide out the 2 and then set up to complete the square in both x and y:

x^2 - 6x + y^2 + 4y = 12

x^2 - 6x + 3^2 + y^2 + 4y + 2^2 = 12 + 9 + 4 = 25

(x - 3)^2 + (y + 2)^2 = 5^2

The center is at (3, -2) and the radius is 5. (Answer)

4x + 4y -12x + 8y - 24 = 0
4x + 4y -12x + 8y = 24
12y - 8x = 24
y - 8x = 24/12
y = 2 + 8x
