You add (6 + 8)/2 = 14/2 = 7I hope this information was very helpful.-I dont get how this is algebra. 8+6=14 (miles()14/2=7 miles1+1=2 (hours)2/2= 1 hour7*1=7Is it not 7mph?-8 plus 6 divided by 2 equals 7,......
(3 * 8 + 1 * 6)/(3 + 1) = 30/4 = 7.5 mph

Let the distance once around the track be x miles

First round time taken = x / 8 hours

Second round time taken = x /6 hours

Total time = x/8 + x/6 = 7x/24

Total distance = 2x

2x / 7x /24 = 48/7= 6.86 mph ANSWER

-
distance = rate *time = D

D = 8*t1
D= 6*t2

average rate =( 2*D)/(t1 + t2)
= (2*D)/( D/8 + D/6) = 2/(1/8 + 1/6) = 2/( 14/48) = 2*48/14 = 48/7 =6.85 mph
I`m sorry
7.5 mph must be wrong

-
I would think it would be 7 mph, not 7.5 mph. You add (6 + 8)/2 = 14/2 = 7

I hope this information was very helpful.

I don't get how this is algebra.
8+6=14 (miles()
14/2=7 miles
1+1=2 (hours)
2/2= 1 hour
7*1=7

Is it not 7mph?

-
8 plus 6 divided by 2 equals 7, so something is wrong
