The scale of a map is 1 : 20 000 000.
On the map the area of a desert region is 13 square cm.
Calculate the actual area of this desert region, in km.
13 cm^2 represents
13*4 x 10^14 cm^2 = 5.2 x 10^15 cm^2
1 km^2 represents 10^10 cm^2
5.2 x 10^15 cm^2 = 520 000 km^2
