so for one side 1cm×1cm (or 1²). Multiply that by all six sides and you have: 6×1².......
Please...help.

Your probability of getting skin cancer is related to the amount of skin you expose to the sun. If you go topless you have more surface area exposed. If you wear a shirt with long sleeves, you have less.

The amount of sunscreen you must use is also directly proportional to the surface area of your skin that is exposed.

There really isnt much "concept" to explain. If you want to find the surface area of the table in front of you just multiply the length of the sides together. For 3 dimensional shapes: think of a dice, it has six sides that are all the same (so its a cube). The length of one side is 1cm, so for one side 1cm×1cm (or 1²). Multiply that by all six sides and you have: 6×1².
